Fate Jamal:- Celebrating Oromo Women (Mothers)

By Fate Jamal*
Every person has their own feelings about mothers. Poets have written tons of poems on this topic; still I feel they fall short of describing her limitless love. This world is full of the amazing love stories of the mother (ayyoo) to her child. Mother(Ayyoo) is the second name of love for me. Her heart is vast like the sea. All the credit for the mother goes to God/Allah/Waqqayoo who has created such a wonderful personality for us.
Traditionally, Oromo women work around the clock to keep everyone around them happy. They forego their dreams to fulfill the dreams of their family and children. Oromo women are strong, and they never give up easily. In many regions, girls usually get married at the young age of 15, and they soon become young parents. The young mothers do everything to raise their children: cooking, cleaning, washing and running many other daily chores to make a better day. They struggle to beat the daily challenges of being young mothers and women in Africa. These challenges can be lessened through our continued struggle for gender equality.
Hundi Keennayyu Shamarran Oromootiif Kabajaa haa qabaannu. Barumsa akka baratan haa jajjabeessinu. Shamarran Oromoo Akka baratan carraa yoo uumneef ilmaan Oromoo akka baratan carraa uumne jechuudha. Yoo walalummaan Oromiyaa keessa bade mirggi saba keennas ni kabajama. kanaafuu Shamarran Haa barsiifnu Haa kabajnu.
